An experienced therapist who hails from Toronto, Canada with over 25 years of professional experience in the mental health field. I pursue key therapeutic approaches in the treatment of psychological conditions, and bring a strong medical background in assessing for biological factors. I bring substantial multicultural experience, including facility in several languages.
In the past, I acted as the Executive Director of a Children’s Advocacy Center, an organization focused on the rights and needs of sexually abused, mistreated, and neglected children, and previously worked in child protective services in Ontario, Canada.
My earlier beginnings occurred in the field of thanatology – death, dying, and funeral services. I worked with several Toronto funeral homes, practising with the bereaved primarily as a bereavement/grief counsellor.
For the past 11 years, I have practiced in Kalamazoo, Michigan; I taught university courses in Gender & Women’s Studies and the School of Social Work. I also put in a few hours each work at the local university counseling clinic for students.
My specialties include over a decade of experience in Eating Disorders/Disordered Eating Issues; Gender Identity (all expressions under the gender spectrum, including a range of ages); Bariatric Evaluation and Support for bariatric weight loss surgery; and Trauma/PTSD.
